“…bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 7:3
Oh, the early days of motherhood, who can remember it all? In all honesty, in the beginning, I had no idea what I was doing. So, I did what most anxious new moms do: I searched for a manual. In my case, I read a book about motherhood.
I still remember what it said, “Mothers pray that our God helps you raise your children to know, love and fear him.” Those words have stuck with me and every time I pray for my children.
As I meditated with this prayer, I thought of what I was going to do to make it a reality in my children’s lives. My spouse and I often talk about our first ministry being our family. We cannot fall into the delusion that Sunday school is intended to release us from our own parental responsibilities of developing our children’s spiritual knowledge.
Since I was already teaching my son his basic letters, numbers and shapes, I thought of ways to include biblical application. I also had run across this idea, alphabet scripture flashcards, through a YouTube video and thought, “YES please!”
As I mentioned in previous posts, my household has one income, so I sought out ways to make this project my own.

I used cardstock 8.5×11 inch paper from Wal-Mart and cut them in half. Using color pencils, markers and crayons, I had fun with it. I drew out an object that matched a letter in the alphabet along with the first letter in a bible verse.
